Atrani is an isolated fishing village, away from the noise and bustle of other locations; it is also one of the smallest municipalities in Italy. It is located just 700 meters from Amalfi and during the era of the Maritime Republic, it was a residential quarter of the aristocracy.
The beauty of Atrani lies in the choreography of the beach and the intricate maze of houses, built practically on top of each other. Atrani seems to be a nativity scene, especially at night with the lights glimmering.
The village's entrance is from the beach and the square, la piazzetta, is the heart of Atrani with its picturesque fountain in the middle. Atrani has preserved the same ancient structure: houses which are pressed one against the other, lanes, narrow streets and small steps going down to the central square.
